Derelicts upon life’s seaA little further out than ‘me’—That is that, and something more;They’re nearer to the other shore.

The lighthouse keeper on yon strandSees their struggles,—understands;Rays of mercy o’er them casts,Guides them into port at last

Saint and sinnerTogether abide,When they reachThe other side.The tide that broughtThe flotsam in,Washed the leperOf his sin.
