To the Climbing Clematis
Why do you climb when you can run?Is it because it seems more fun?Do you disdain the lowly ground,The place where all your roots are bound?
As in rebuke she did reply,‘I climb that I might touch the sky.I do not scorn my parent earth. It is the source that gave me birth. And life would be quite incompleteIf Earth and Heaven did not meet.’
