Dream Ships

Boys flying kites up into the welkin blueStare and wonder as little boys do.They watch their paper ships sail through the airAnd wonder about the world up there.Higher and higher their kites float on;Little boys wonder what is beyond.Soon the wind dies and their kites flutter down;Dreams and paper ships lie mute on the ground.
So when life’s tempest lies calm in the sail,A zig-a-zag path shows us just where we fail; But Heaven is still there, and gleams to the last,So what matter the ships and the dreams of the past.
